The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale

The Goose Girl is about a Princess who has spent the majority of her life learning to talk with animals, and has mastered it with birds but when it comes to humans its another matter. If she were second in line it would be a whole different story, but Princess Anidori-Kiladra Talianna Isilee (Ani) is the Crown Princess of Kildenree, there's a lot of pressure on her to be someone she isn't; a leader. Though when tragedy strikes, Ani is sent off to marry the crown prince of a far off land where she will have to renounce her claim to Kildenree thrown and learn a whole new way life.

On the journey to this far off land another problem arises and Ani is left alone to fend for herself in a land where no one will believe who she is. So Ani does the only thing she knows, take care of birds, but the choices she makes after that will come to effect the future of the land and her own destiny.

I absolutely love this book! its such a good story, with amazing characters and really great twists. This is what I'd call a fairytale, but it brings that genre to a whole other level; instead of having the prince come in and do all the rescuing the princess is put in positions where she not only has to save herself but save her people from the evil in the world. You really get to see Ani change in this book, and it does it with a bit irony in it; which is always nice. I would recommend this book to any one who enjoys fairytales, Gail Carson Levine books or if you have read any other of Shannon Hale's books.

Hope you enjoy it :D
