Grave Mercy is the first book of the trilogy His Fair Assassin by Robin LaFevers. This is a historical fiction set in a time when woman were sold off into marriage at the young age of 16. Ismae is no different, she is married off to an abusive man with a heavy hand. Trying to protect herself Ismae ends up killing her dear husband and is shipped off to the convent St. Mortain. At this convent the girls are trained to be lethal weapons in the service of the god of death. Set on the course of violence and deception, Ismae is sent to Brittany on a task that will take more will power than she initially thought. Put up against aristocrats with talents of deception down to a point, Ismae must call on all her training if she plans on saving the land from treason.
I've only read this book of the series, but I really enjoyed it. Full of action, suspense and a bit romance it really keeps a girl entertained. I recommend this book to all those who people who like historical books with a bit of kick in it.
I believe the following two book are apart of the same story but following two different girls who you meet in this book. Totally on my list of books to read.
